What Is Matcha?”

Matcha is often called the healthiest beverage in the world: it’s a shade-grown green tea (known as tencha) that is harvested before full leaf development, which boosts its chlorophyll and antioxidant levels. After steaming and drying, the leaves are deveined, destemmed, and stone-ground into a vibrant green powder. Traditionally, matcha is prepared in the Japanese tea ceremony (chanoyu)—a refined ritual blending aesthetics, philosophy, and hospitality to express respect, harmony, and simplicity, a practice passed down for over 400 years .
